OpenJaw Technologies Expands Online Transactions for American Airlines Vacations

Dublin, Ireland, 20 Sep 2003 -

OpenJaw Technologies' XML Software Directly Connects to Hotel Switches and Car Rental Companies

OpenJaw Technologies, a leading provider of XML technology solutions, today announced that use of its switching and aggregation engine, xDistributor, simplified American Airlines Vacations online transactions. xDistributor directly connects American Airlines Vacations to the Pegasus and Travelweb hotel switches and Avis, Hertz, Alamo and National car rental companies. American Airlines Vacations customers can now book reservations at more than 40,000 hotels worldwide with access to retail and negotiated hotel rates. Rental cars can be reserved around the world and the customer has access to negotiated corporate rates as well as promotional rates offered by the rental car companies. The system extensively utilises the OpenTravel™ Alliance XML message specifications for Car and Hotel.

"Our Web site's search feature, developed by OpenJaw, uses geo location data to find hotels with available rooms in close proximity to the selected location and allows the customer to subsequently widen the search radius to provide an even greater choice of properties", said Richie Christy, vice president of Sales and Marketing at American Airlines Vacations. "The new on-line capability also significantly expands the number of destinations and hotels available to our customers, both in the United States and around the world. In addition, our customers can now book multiple car and hotel components while in one session and receive a single, detailed itinerary."

xDistributor provides simultaneous search capability against multiple suppliers and intelligently aggregates the response information to provide a single integrated response. Within its framework, xDistributor includes a highly efficient, easily configured Business Rules Engine that allows updating of business rules without any programming changes.

xDistributor is part of OpenJaw's end-to-end XML product suite. This advanced XML-centric approach to travel technology reduces development times while increasing flexibility and reliability for OpenJaw's customers.

Commenting on the new development, OpenJaw's CEO, John Mc Quillan said, "AAV's leadership position in the adoption of XML technologies and standards allowed them to quickly identify the unique benefits of xDistributor's XML architecture and integrated Business Rules Engine. For OpenJaw, this project is significant in providing validation to our vision of the future of distribution technology within the Travel Industry".
